Fish Stock Congee w Thousand Year Egg & Pork $35 has not MSG and
is enough to be divided into 4 small bowls. Please have a look at the
distorted bowl shape. The congee is a highly appreciated item.
Pan Fried Rice Roll $28 has no unnecessary oil.
Left: Steamed Spare Rib $18 is not from frozen pork. Right: Steamed Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce $18
Wasabi Marinated Black Fungus is still very good. But the size seems to be smaller in this Russell Street.
Cold Tofu Salad is still an appraised item.
Canton Style Fried rice with Preserved Meat and Sausage $78
Osmanthus Jello $18 is of course a tasty item.
Steamed Sponge Cake $14
Tin Oi Tin Restaurant / Russell Street – Dim Sum 天外天中菜館 3/F, Plaza 2000, 2 - 4 Russell Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. We
have a quite good dinner experience in its counterpart in Paterson
Street and would like to try its dim sum this time. But the restaurant
in Paterson Street has no Dim Sum; we then change to the one in Russell
Street. This Tin Oi Tin is also very small in size, but the service is
warm in the very beginning. The restaurant would be very noisy if it is
full. Since there are not many customers in weekend lunchtime, the
waitress asks us to choose the table we like most.
We order dim
sum gradually, to ensure that they would not cool down. Overall level of
dim sum is above average. We have tried Wasabi Marinated Black Fungus
and Cold Tofu Salad in Paterson Street restaurant, we try again here.
Taste of both dishes is still good. There is a discovery that for the
same dish, food size in Russell Street seems to be a bit smaller than
that in Paterson Street. We totally order 10 items, the bill is $431
(average per head $110).
We appreciate the congee, which is
cooked with fish soup only and has not added MSG, the taste becomes very
natural. All other foods are not oily. The price is comparatively
expensive in any Tin Oi Tin, no matter whether it is in lunchtime or
dinnertime. It is anyway suggested to try if budget is not the main
concern. This Tin Oi Tin is not crowded in weekend lunchtime; it is a
place to eat dim sum of above average quality, and to chat for a leisure
afternoon.
