There are fish, chicken meat and shrimp in the Seafood Congee, the portion is larger than normal.

The shrimp in Shrimp Ricesheet Roll is not fresh enough, but this is
acceptable and understandable. Besides, no unnecessary oil is added.

Soya Bean Milk

Left: Plain Ricesheet Roll $8.5; Right: Fried Baguet

Dried Vegetable and Pork Chop Congee $13.5

Opening hours: 0600 - 0200

Hong
Kong Culture would be incomplete if congee, ricesheet roll and fried
baguet are not included. These were the daily breakfast of Hong Kong
people when the economy was still in the infant stage in the past. These
foods are sometimes forgotten by some of us nowadays . In Johnston Road shop, in lunchtime, the basement would also be opened; while at night, only the ground floor is opened.
In
order to have a quick and light dinner, we dine in Ocean Empire Food
Shop. We order a seafood congee combo $35 (a Seafood Congee, a Shrimp
Ricesheet Roll and a glass of Soya Bean Milk) and 2 more items (a plain
Ricesheet Roll $8.5 and a Dried Vegetable and Pork Chop Congee $13.5). The bill is $57 (average per head is $28).
The
Seafood Congee is larger than normal size. In the congee, there are
chicken meat, fish and shrimp. But the shrimps in congee and ricesheet
roll are not fresh enough, this is acceptable and understandable. Dried
Vegetable and Pork Chop Congee is a good try.
Foods and congees are not too salty and oily, but there is MSG. Congee
base is not too bad, anyway, I quite appreciate the quality at such
price. Its overall food quality should have improved a lot these years.
In fact, we order too much and do not expect the total food portion is in such
size. An originally light dinner becomes a heavy dinner now.
The
reasons to introduce this congee shop are that the group takes care of
hygiene in its shops, and price is reasonable (or you may say it is
quite cheap). The group also concerns about the health of its customers,
except the fried snacks, all other foods are not very oily or the minimum possible amount of
oil is added to the foods. Overall performance is about average and is
worthwhile to recommend. Besides traditional congees and snacks, there
are also Chinese desserts and rice set.
