Stir-fried
Rice Cake with Shanghai Crabs $240 is comparatively expensive. The
secret sauce is important in the dish. Though the sauce is dark brown in
color, it is not salty at any rate. Rice cake and Shanghai crab match
perfectly. You may order the Shanghai crab (2 pcs only) at $200, but it is not suggested.
Delipedia:
Shanghai
crab 六月黃(male sex, after 3 sheddings of shell, totally 5 sheddings are
needed before it becomes an adult crab.) is to describe those crabs in
the sixth month of Chinese calendar. They are in fact baby Shanghai crab
only. In this month, the baby crab still has a lot of yellow fat (蟹黃), the shell is soft and the meat is the best in quality.

Smoked Egg (2 pcs) $30. The egg yolk has not yet been fully cooked.
There is smoke-smell on the egg surface. It is a flavorful item and is
also one of the must-trys in Liu Yuan.

White
Gourd with Crab Meat in Chicken Soup (2 pcs) $80 is unexpectedly
palatable. Originally we want to order the one with Ham. The Manager
suggests that this one is much better. It is true. Crab meat is a good
match with white gourd , which is soft and succulent. Chicken soup is also a member to further enhance the overall taste.

Pan-fried Yellow Croaker (2 tails) $50 is expected to be cooked in
Shanghai style. But in fact it is a pan-fried small fish. The meat is
fresh anyway. Yellow Croaker is quite expensive if it is ordered in
Shanghai.

Pan-fried Pork Bun (6 pcs) $30 is a must for us in Shanghai cuisine.
The buns are of high quality, in a sense that the content is very juicy,
the base is crispy but not oily.

After
the closure of Liu Yuan Restaurant, this is the first time to try in
Liu Yuan Pavilion (LY). LY is not a restaurant of large area, but its
layout is comfortable. Tables are not packed together, minimum level of
privacy is offered . We are allotted to booth seat. Even though LY is full, it is not
very noisy. There is also sufficient number of waitresses. Everything
seems to be commensurate with food price (but this is not a must).
We
have not ordered the set dinner, but ordered dishes according to our
preference. We order 6 dishes and a dessert. The bill is $596 (average
per head $300). All dishes are of above average quality and taste . In
order to have such food quality, higher than normal spending is inevitable.
For the sake of maintaining its existence, it is needed to support in
person by dining in LY. Restaurant of tasty foods and traditional
Shanghai style is important to complete the catering field in Hong Kong.
