Shrimp with Dragon Well 龍井蝦仁 RMB78. Shrimp texture is not so bouncy as those from the sea. The overall taste is delightful. It is nice to try this Hangzhou signature dish in Shenzhen.

Baked Sparerib in Sugar and Vinegar 糖醋排骨 is exceptionally tasty. The surface is crispy and with the taste of sweet and sour. I have nearly finished 50% of the whole dish and I really connot control my hand and month.

Jellyfish in Broth 湯燴海哲頭RMB32 is really a good introduction. The broth has flavor of wine and sugar. Jellyfish is of course chewy. It is a must try appetizer. The portion is not big, but for RMB32 we cannot expect too much.

Wonton in Hangzhou Style 杭式大餛飩. We do not know the difference between this Hangzhou style and the one we try before. Anyway, it is a tasty one. We do not think that a large amount of MSG has been added.

The appetizers

From the name of “Dried Bamboo Shoot & Vegetable Sponge in Soup 筍幹絲瓜”, we cannot realize how it is cooked. Vegetable sponge is tender and is of course a good item to fill up our stomachs.

Fried Eggplant RMB22 is a nutritive item. There is no meat; eggplant is cooked with water and seasonings.

West Lake Spring Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant serving foods in Hangzhou style. Price is comparatively cheaper. Food taste and quality is high. It is a good restaurant in Shenzhen.

We are introduced to try in West Lake Spring (WLS) in Shenzhen. Having traveled around in Shenzhen in the afternoon, we would like to try in WLS at night. It is of course the first time for us to visit. We originally would like to reserve table, but when we phone them to reserve and learn that there is no reservation service. All diners have to queue up in person.

We wait for about 30 minutes and are allotted a table for 4. We order 6 dishes and no dessert. The bill is $310 (average per head $80). In view of food taste and quality, we deeply believe that the chefs prepare food with heart. This is why the foods are nicely displayed in front of us. Food taste is much better than a lot of Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong. In view of price, it is surely value for money. If you visit Shenzhen next time, it is suggested to pay visit to WLS.
