Tian
Qi Tian Ma Soup of Chicken 田七天麻火鍋雞is the signature soup in Cai Yun Nan
Restaurant. Instead of chicken, duck may be ordered as an alternative.
The oil layer on the top should be taken out before drinking. The soup is
delicious and we can taste the flavor of tian qi and other crude medicine.

Tian
Qi (Pseudoginseng) is an effective cleanser of the blood and helps
improve blood circulation. It is said to have significant healing
effects, eliminating pain, easing bruises and swelling. Adults take the
above soup for improvement of skin texture, refreshment of the mind and energizing the body.
Tian Qi powder (right) is served separately, for putting into your own
bowl. If you are spicy-lover, you may add more dehydrated spice
(front). The preserved beancurd (top) is for eating with chicken meat.
Fried Lotus Root is not too soft, but chewy.
Braised Tofu is very hot when served. Foods in the Mainland have to be fully cooked, for safety sake.
Cai Yun Nan Restaurant should have a very good interior decoration
before. It is anyway not bad at the moment and it is a bit old.

Yunnan
cuisine is one of the Chinese cuisines I like. It is a pity that the
restaurants serving Yunnan cuisine in Hong Kong are mostly
disappointing. It is reported that Cai Yun Nan Restaurant (CY) in
Shenzhen serves tasty Yunnan cuisine and its signature soup does not have msg. We would like to have a try of Yunnan dish in a place not too far away from us.
Basically,
we are not hungry and mainly want to try its signature soup of chicken.
Besides this soup, we order tofu and lotus root. The bill is $88
(average per head $44). In view of its pricing, it would / should be doubled
or tripled in Hong Kong . The soup is surely without msg and has a
concentrated flavor of chicken. We intentionally do not drink water in
order to carry out msg test. It turns out that we are not thirsty
afterward. For other two dishes, they are average, not salty and not oily. They are very hot when served.
In
the midst of our meal, 2 ladies in good dressing visit CY and buy
takeaway separately. It is not in our expectation that they should buy
takeaway from CY. We would deduce this is not the first time for them to
buy in CY. After this meal, we have confidence to try its other stuffs of mushroom next time, and its another signature dish of spicy fish.
