Congee
of Chicken and White-spotted Rabbitfish. Chicken is fresh and rich in
chicken flavor. When it is heated in congee, chicken taste is further
enhanced. Congee base is average only. A pity is that one piece of
white-spotted rabbitfish (totally 3 pieces) is not fresh enough. It
becomes the black spot in the congee.
This is a fried Ho Fan (noodle) with soya sauce. It is not oily and is quite ordinary.
After
trying the chicken congee, it is time to order a half bird ($85). This
only shows our appreciation to the chicken. We are sorry it is really
delectable. Its look will be better if we put them into hot congee or
hot soup for a while.
It is fresh chicken. The meat is tender,
juicy, bouncy and rich in natural chicken flavor. The skin & blood
colors and meat texture tell us it is not a chilled or frozen one.

In
Yuen Long, sometimes we really do not know where to dine, mainly
because we are not familiar with this community. There are quite a lot
of pseudo-Japanese restaurants (localized Japanese restaurants), they
are not my cup of tea. We finally decide to try chicken congee in Sun
Kee. Though this restaurant gives us a shabby feeling, its hygiene is
still not bad.
After selecting a table, we order chicken congee,
fried noodle and half piece of chicken. The bill is $140 (average per
head $70). Besides the dishes we ordered, there are in fact many other
dishes which are also commonly available in other Chinese restaurants.
The signature dishes here must be those with chicken. Chicken is fresh
and the meat is surely bouncy. Congee base is average only. But if the
chicken is put into the congee for a while, the chicken quality is
further enhanced. If you like chicken as well, you should have a try in
Sun Kee.
