'Cold Black Fungus' - Shredded black fungus is mixed with shredded ginger and sauce. It is very tasty and refreshing appetizer.

Stir-fried Vegetable

'Yangzhou Shredded Tofu in Soup' (揚州煮乾絲) is a very impressive dish. Tofu is chopped into thin pieces and is served in soup of shrimp and Chinese Ham. We appreciate this dish very much.

'Braised Yellow Croaker' is very large in size. It is braised in brown sauce with sliced​​ baby bamboo.

Meat of this Yellow Croaker is still tender. The brown sauce is very typical in Shanghai cuisine. It is a delectable fish.

Pan-fried Sweetened Glutinous Rice (八寶飯) is not oily as we have requested in advance.

'Pan-fried Dumpling w/ Pork' is normally ordered as we like this dumpling very much.

It has more than 20 year’s history in the mainland and has branches in Shanghai and Beijing.

For authentic Shanghai cuisine, Lu Lu should be one of the good choices at Hong Kong side. Maybe, it is located at the basement. It is not always crowded. It is in fact normally only 50% full. If dining environment is one of the factors in your selection of restaurant, you may consider Lu Lu. You should be able to have a relaxing and not noisy experience.

We try to order dishes which we have not yet tried so far, like braised fish, pan-fried rice cake. Average spending is about $200. In our experience, food quality in Lu Lu is above average but has not attained the top level. For most of the dishes, they can serve in an original Shanghai style and dishes have not yet been localized in order to fit the people in Hong Kong.

We would like to praise the cooking skill of braised fish. In most other Shanghai restaurants, they must not serve this dish. Since it is quite an expensive one, it is also not easy to source such fish in the market, or they may not have the confidence to cook in high quality, or the restaurant may not have diners to order this dish. If you would like to try authentic Shanghai cuisine, Lu Lu should be one of the handful options. On the other hand, if you would like to try Shanghai cuisine in Lu Lu in an average low spending, I am sorry Lu Lu should not be your choice.
