Duen Kee Chinese Restaurant is a nice village tea house in Chuen Lung.
In the morning, patrons from village nearby and other districts are
gathered here to eat dim sum meal and to charge for the day.
It is dim sum meal of four items early in the morning. Congee has been
boiled for several hours. Both taste and texture are good.
Braised Chicken Feet is a supplement of collagen.
Steamed Rice of Taro & Braised Pork should be a new item to us.
There is no surplus sauce on the rice, both taroand braised pork are
delicious and tender enough.
Deep-fried Dumpling (Glutinious Rice Puff) is of very high quality.
Or, to describe in another manner, it is outstanding. it does not have
surplus oil on the surface, it is still very hot.
Boiled
Watercress deserves to be the signature item in Duen Kee Chinese
Restaurant. We nearly forget to order this vegetable. It is boiled in
hot water with oil, sauce and salt for a short time. It has a very
alluring and refreshing bright green colour. Each piece of vegetable is definitely young and tender. It is rich in
nice vegetable flavour too. More information about Watercress will be
available in the photos below.
Indoor and alfresco dining are available.
Duen Kee is a self service eatery. Patrons have to select tea leaf
from one of the four plastic containers and prepare tea by themselves.

Remarks:
Duen
Kee Chinese Restaurant is an eatery we would like to visit for a long
time. We expect it should be an interesting experience to visit Chuen
Lung and have a meal in Duen Kee. It is village Chinese restaurant,
occupying quite a large area, with indoor and alfresco dining. Basically no service is provided, all have
to be done by patrons themselves, including pouring water, selecting
and collecting dim sum, and others. It is therefore different from most
Chinese restaurants in the downtown.
We
order dim sums, steamed rice, congee and vegetable. Average spending is
only fifty, it is a bit below our expectation. Though dim sum and
dishes are not much different from others, they are in fact served and
cooked with heart and of above average
quality. This immediately gives us a very good impression to Duen Kee.
Besides, a signature item of Duen Kee must be its watercress vegetable.
We are lucky to have ordered at the last minutes as we have already
forgotten to order. It is really a must to order in Duen Kee, if any.
