Lin Zhai was built in Qin Dynasty in BC214. At that time, General Lin
was appointed to safeguard this area. The area was therefore named after
this General Lin as Lin Zhai 林寨 (the meaning is a stockaded village of
General Lin ).
There are about 28,000 people living in Lin Zhai Village now. Chinese address of Lin Zhai Village is 中國廣東省河源市和平縣林寨鎮下鎮村.
Lin
Zhai Village is in Guangdong Province. It is the largest Hakka village
cluster at the north of Guangdong Province in China. It is renowned for
its square shaped constructions. By taxi from Heyuan city, it takes
about 90 minutes, road condition is quite good . At the moment, it is still not connected by public bus. In this
connection, it must not be crowded no matter when you visit Lin Zhai
Village.
Several old buildings are still be kept in good condition and then
more famous. This is one of them. It is the best way to retrospect Hakka
culture and construction in Guangdong Province.
Guang Yuan Building（光遠第）
Yes, this is inside the house. This tells us how rich the owner of
this building was. This building is always the target of video by TV
stations.

This was a wedding photo. They were the son and daughter-in-law of the
owner in Guang Yuan Building. The bridegroom was not handicapped. At
the time, holding a stick to take photo was an indication of riches.
This water tap is inside Guang Yuan Building as well.
This is another big building in good condition.
Ticket check is needed at the entrance. Please note the two long
stone columns in the front. It is said that these columns were made
overseas, the cost (delivery and material) was very high.
This stone column is a bit different. Chinese characters are engraved.
Lin
Zhai Village is still kept in good condition, particularly for several
old buildings which can tell more about Hakka culture and construction.
From the buildings, we can realize how glorious their life was and how
rich they were. Remember, the buildings were built several hundred
years before (I guess only). Renovation of different buildings is
undergoing continuously. We have to thank the people in Lin Zhai Village
for building the village and keeping the buildings in such a good and
complete condition. If one day you visit Heyuan of Guangdong Province, you should also take two hours in travelling and visit Lin Zhai Village.
