Fried
Small Fish w/ Chili is an authentic Hakka dish. In fact, we would like
to try more Hakka dishes, we therefore mainly order Hakka dishes from
the menu. These small fishes have been fried in oil before it is cooked
with chili. It is of course spicy, delicious and the first time for us to order such dish. Fishes are collected in the river nearby.
Fried Bean w/ Pork is not too big in size, it is served in a large bowl.
Hakka Fried Egg is in fact fried egg with Chinese chives. It is very
thin and not oily. The price is low but it is yummy too. Fyi, this dish
is called Chives Omelet in Malaysia.
It is too late to place our order, we cannot order those signature
dishes of chicken. This is a steamed chicken with green onion sauce. It
can be better, it is of course not chilled.
Braised
Pork w/ Preserved Vegetable is a common and an authentic Hakka dish. We
are pleased to try this in Heyuan. Pork is fresh. Cooking skill in
China is getter better, no matter whether the restaurant is a large or
small one, and no matter whether it is in large or small cities.
Fried Black Fungus
Fried Taro is served in this simple manner. Since taro is in high
quality,it is already a very yummy Hakka dish. Small amount of pork can
be found underneath.
Stir-fried vegetable
Plain Rice
Some dishes are not served in plate but big bowl.
We nearly finished all foods on the table. What a simple but delectable authentic Hakka meal.

To
visit Sujiawei (蘇家圍http://sjw.hydjhl.cn/index.asp) should include
dining in People's Commune Restaurant. If not, there is no other choice
in this Hakka village. But it does not mean that dishes here are expensive and not delicious. On the other hand, we sense and later
it proves that they cook food and run the restaurant with heart.
There
are quite a lot of dishes in the menu. A pity is that we have not made
any reservation beforehand, quite a lot of dishes likes tofu and fresh
chicken are therefore available to us. We arbitrarily order many dishes,
all are authentic Hakka dishes as
well. Except that the chicken is not of top quality (it is not fresh),
others are very good or of high level indeed. We can savor the authentic
Hakka flavor again in this meal. It is a bit different in appearance or
more delicious than the same in those Hakka restaurants in Hong Kong .
Together with the yellow wine bought in the Liquor Factory nearby, we do
have a delectable Hakka lunch meal.
