Stuffed Dace Fish is the top signature dish in Huang Ma Ma Speakeasy, but it is definitely not of top quality. It is an award-winning dish, it is average only in my experience. This dish has been introduced in the TV by Martin Yan of "Yan Can Cook".

Chicken in two flavours.
Chicken meat is good and bouncy in texure, this is expected to eat chicken in the mainland.

Mushroom stuffed with minced pork

Deep-fried Fish w/ Sweet & Sour Sauce

Deep-fried Minced Pork Wrapped in Seaweed Sheet

Steamed Lotus Root stuffed w/ Green Bean Paste and Stuffed Green Pepper is the best item in this meal. We have never tried this before. The taste is well-balanced. Lotus root and green bean are very suitable to be eaten in summer.

Braised Pomelo Skin w/ Vegetable

Steamed Dumpling Stuffed with Cha Siu (Cha Siu Bao) is in very good quality unexpectedly, in the sense of both the flour texture and stuffed cha siu.

Soup of Fish Head with Chinese Herbs is delicious and also one of the signature items.

It should have been boiled for about two hours, in order to have this whitish colour.



Chinese Plum Wine

Huang Ma Ma Restaurant is not conveniently located in Shunde, Guangdong Province. This is the main building.

To dine in Huang Ma Ma Restaurant in Shunde, for the sake of convenience and cost, most people would join a tour of one or two days. There is no exception for us. We are allotted to dine in a dining room of a one storeyed house, this is not the main building of Huang Ma Ma Restaurant. Air-conditioning is of course available.

There are three group meal sets. The one we enjoy is RMB50 per head, for a table of ten diners. Frankly speaking, even though its dishes are said to be award-winning in the mainland, it is only average generally. The most outstanding dishes should be fish head soup and steamed lotus root stuffed with green bean. But if we treat the meal as non-award-winning, it is not bad for a meal of about ten dishes at RMB50 per head. It is anyway an experience to have enjoyed a meal with award-winning dishes in the mainland. But to visit the eatery purposely, there is no such need.
