Fried Potato Stripes 土豆差差 RMB12 is quite a common dish in the
mainland. This is a bit difference by adding spicy powder to the potato.
Fried Purple Fungus with Pork RMB59 is the most expensive dish in the
lunch, mainly because the Helan Mountain Purple Fungus is quite
expensive. To me, the mushroom has nothing special.
We
are attracted by this “Pan-fried Egg w/ Vegetable RMB38” ordered by the
table next to us. We immediately order this same. This pan-fried egg
comes with bean, tomato and onion. It is a tasty item in mountain area .
Oil-fried Deerhorn Vegetable 鹿角菜 RMB18 is an alga and its texture is
like 'Green Caviar 海葡萄' in Okinawa. It is crunchy and has no special
taste, but is a new food kind to us.
Oil Fried Scorpion @RMB2 has no taste. It is like a deeply oil-fried sticky dough, but quite oily.

Helan
Mountain 賀蘭山is a bonus scenic spot in this trip, as it has not yet been
included in our itinerary. After seeing the well-known rock pictures
(Yan Hua 岩畫), we have a late lunch. We really do not know where to find
dining place. When we continue to drive for a while, we find a group of
4 constructions, which are of better facilities and appearance. We
decide to have our lunch in Rock Villas (石頭山莊, RV), which already has
several tables of
diners in lunchtime. Decoration of RV is very traditional Chinese
village style. In fact, RV is a hotel (RMB100 for a standard room) for
the travelers to Helan Mountain . This restaurant is in an opened area,
but environment is more than acceptable .
We
order 6 dishes, the bill is RMB185 (average per head $45). This should
be an expensive spending in China . But in scenic spot where there are
not many choices and the foods are quite extraordinary in RV, it is
still value for money to us. It is the first time for us to meet and eat such kind of serving.
