Fried Cuttlefish w/ Sauce. The meat is fresh and very bouncy. There is
no surplus sauce, which is just enough to adhere to the meat surface.
Deep Fried Fish. The fish is quite long in size and not bony, it is
chopped into two halves. The meat is fresh. It is a savory seafood.
Conpoy In Soup. This is the first time to eat conpoy in soup. The soup
is not strong in seasoning. Conpoys are fresh and the freshness has not
yet been covered. Though conpoys are small in size, they are fresh
enough.
'Seafood and Vegetable In Soup' is quite large in portion . It is
served in a copper big bowl (please compare it with the glass on the top
left corner).
Stir-fried Bitter Gourd is cooked with several small shrimps. It is not heavy in taste.
In Dan Dong (a city next to Yalu River), we of course need to try this local beer.
Fresh Marine Products Restaurant is also introduced by a travel guide.
Dining in the street is quite welcomed by the locals. We are attracted to have a try by such an atmosphere.

Dan Dong (丹東) is a small city in Liao Ning (遼寧), which is next to the
border between China and North Korea. It is unexpected that there are
also high-rise buildings of 40 storeys in Dan Dong. New flats are mainly bought by those from South Korea.
We
stroll around to look for a restaurant in the evening. We are lucky to
come across 'Fresh Marine Products Restaurant' (FMP). We are attracted
by the street-side dining atmosphere. Besides, various kinds of seafood
(fish, conpoy, crab, shrimp and others) are displayed on the street. Diners are
freely to order their preferred. FMP is nearly full and we have more
confidence to have a try.
Though
there are a lot of varieties, we finally order 3 kinds of seafood,
namely conpoy, cuttlefish and fish. These seafood are fresh enough in
our experience / observation. We know in advance people in the North
East prefer stronger taste in food, we therefore
request cooking with less oil, salt and msg. All foods are tasty and
they have not added much msg, if any. Meat textures are fresh enough
(but we cannot guarantee other seafood not selected by us are also fresh
enough). We are pleased to experience a dinner of seafood in Dan Dong in the street.
