Trotter in Cold Dish (肴肉)
The colour of lean meat is
barely alright. But for the gelatin, it seems that there is something
wrong. Taste is light but accepted, this should be the result that the
chef deliberately reduces the addition of salt.
N.B. This
photo was taken in Hong Kong Lao Shanghai Restaurant in Wanchai. Texture, colour
and taste are completely different. This should be the authentic
appearance in my experience. In comparison, the one in the first photo
(in Lo Ching Hing) fails.
Pan-fried Minced Pork Dumping (生煎包)
is like a steamed bun in appearance. It is only slightly pan-fried on
the base. The stuffed minced pork is not juicy enough. Overall speaking,
the buns are not bad. It is the best item in the meal imho.
Wonton & Chicken in Soup (雲吞雞)
The
portion is not small. There are about six pieces of wonton and half a
chicken. The chicken is of course not fresh, it should be chilled.
Basically, chicken meat is tastelsss.
Soup is not too
concentrated. The reason should be the same for the above two dishes.
Wonton is large in size. I prefer this dish in smaller size, with less
soup and more concentrated taste.

We
have not tried in Cheung Sha Wan for a long time, there is a chance
tonight. We select to dine in a Shanghai restaurant finally. We have not
tried here before. It is a typical local restaurant in a resident area.
We do not want to eat too much, and select to order three dishes only.
Pricing
is not high, or it is better to say it is very reasonable. Average
spending is only ninety. But food quality is not up to our expectation
to be a local Shanghai restaurant, particularly for the trotter in cold
dish (the first photo) which is not in the appearance and texture we
experienced before in other restaurants, but I cannot say this is the
authentic one while others are not. Anyway this is a bit disappointing
meal. You are recommended not to visit this eatery, it is solely at your
risk if you visit.
