Tofu Tempura Stuffed with Eel 豆腐鰻魚天婦羅 is the signature item in Koheitsu , but I do not think it is very tasty.

Sashimi Platter 刺身拚盤. Sashimi is not fresh enough. Food presentation is good, to be frank.

Tuna
Sushi (6 pieces, totally failed) at the back should have been prepared
in lunchtime , and is served to us in dinnertime. Thanks a lot. We do
not bother to have a change. Let it be.

Ox Tongue Skewer is too tough, taste is not bad.

Chicken Skewer is average in texture.

Fried
Chicken Breast in Sesame Sauce is quite difficult to comment. Maybe,
its sauce is of localized taste. But it is served in a 'Japanese'
restaurant .

Udon in Fish Soup is quite tasty and no msg has been added. We all like the soup.

Remarks: If you do not like or do not want to eat the appetizer, you may reject. It is not free.
The
chefs in Koheitsu (KH) should be 4 Hong Kong guys, we do not find any
native Japanese during our meal. They should have the ambition to serve
quality 'Japanese' food in Hong Kong. KH is a small restaurant in an old
building without lift, and can serve about 25 diners at the same time.
When
we are in KH, the first impression to me is that there is something
wrong. It is not the kind of Japanese restaurant we expect in mind. When
we glance round the restaurant, it is only a localized Japanese
restaurant. Servers are quite attentive and helpful.
Our budget
is $200 per head (the waitress asks us to set a budget on the phone), we
ask them to arrange anything to us. We do not know what we will eat and
we really have no impetus to ask beforehand. We also do not know when
the last dish will be. When the udon is served to us, we know it should
be the last dish. Totally, there are 8 dishes and a dessert (tofu or
sesame ice-cream). Average per head is $210.
Out of the 8 dishes,
food quality is at most average. Food presentation should be
appreciated, we sense that they have devoted in this aspect. Considering
$200 per head, food portion is not small and is surely enough to us.
Regarding taste, we can ascertain it surely serves localized Japanese
food.
Though KH is not 100% Japanese origin, in view of price and
food portion, it is still a value for money Japanese meal for some
diners. If you do not look for original Japanese taste, or you just look
for a Japanese style dinner, or if you look for a localized Japanese
restaurant, KH is your choice. But KH is not my cup of tea. Sorry, I
must not re-try . The dinner in KH can explain the reason of queuing up
in some ramen chain shops, there are really many diners of various
levels.
Service: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Food: 3/5 (As a Japanese
style restaurant, its food quality is above average to some diners. To
be a Japanese restaurant, it surely fails.)
