Kee Mei Kitchen 奇味小廚 @ Quarry Bay 鰂魚涌

We are exceptionally lucky that we have ordered 'Braised Duck Pot (狗仔鴨)'. It is very good in taste and we all like it. Besides fresh duck meat, we can also find dried pig skin, beancurd sheet and thousand years mandarin skin. The brown sauce is very delicious and we do not know what it is. But it should be a mixture of several sauces.

'Braised Common Crap' is served in clay pot. It is cooked with a lot of spring onion, sliced ginger and beancurd sheet. This fish is a male sex and is still alive before it is cooked. It is a very flavorful dish in winter and should be shared by more diners. You are recommended to order, but it depends on the availability of Common Carp on the day of your visit.

Deep-fried Squid Mouth should be regarded as a very delicious dish. It is of course a good companion of beer. It has been marinated with wine and ginger juice, there is no trace of fishiness. We have to praise the chef that this deep-fried stuff is not oily at all.

Soyed Goose Wings and Tofu. Braised peanuts are covered by sliced tofu.

'Fried Vegetables and Mushroom' is not in an alluring outlook. It is anyway a good supply of fibre.

'Vegetable in Soup' is not displayed in an ordering manner, but it is a very pleasing and palatable dish, mainly because Choy Sum is specially selected. It is tender and sweet in taste. For a dish of vegetable, it is cooked with garlic, spring onion, mushroom and Chinese ham. They cook each dish with heart.

To be a local restaurant specializing in Guangdong cuisine, Kee Mei Kitchen has already done a good job (or a very good job). It is getting more popular in Quarry Bay , and more and more diners would like to have a try. In view of interior decoration, it has no difference to other typical local Chinese restaurants. Or, to be straight-forward, there is no interior decoration. Packed, congested and a bit noisy should be used to describe the dining environment.

Though soup is said to be one of the signature items, we have not ordered for fear that considerable amount of msg would have been added. We have ordered six dishes totally. In fact, most dishes are printed with name and photos on papers which are stuck onto the wall. But sometimes it is quite puzzling that we really do not know which dishes to select.

In about five minutes, dishes would be served to us gradually. The chefs are very efficient and effective. All dishes are served in high quality, in view of food taste and material freshness. But the average spending is only a bit more than one hundred dollars. We find no reason not to recommend this Chinese restaurant to you.
