Spareribs in Zhenjiang Sauce
There is no surplus sauce on each piece of sparerib. We hate those with watery sauce at the bottom. Overall performance is above average. It is delicious but definitely we do not have any surprise.
This dish is quite generous in portion, at least 20% larger than that in some chained restaurants.
Soy Sauce Chicken in Claypot (Half bird) is nicely presented. Brownish red skin colour is very anticing. Meat texture is bouncy and impressive. The sauce is cooked with large amount of ginger and garlic. It deserves to be one of the signature dishes.
Silk Gourd with black fungus & dried golden needles (it is also called daylily, in the above photo, daylily is covered by black fungus and silk gourd) is a delicious and simple vegetarian dish. The portion is exceptionally large. It is surely value for money. FYI, daylily is rich in Vitamin A, B and C, beta-carotene, lecithin, iron, calcium and phosphoros. It is needed to eat more if chance arises.

Congee Kitchen should be one of the best eateries in Shau Kei Wan Main Street East . It is not a large one, without much interior decoration, but it is always full during lunchtime and dinnertime. Unlike other eateries, there are sufficient staffs all the time. Since Congee Kitchen is located nearly at the end of the street and in Shau Kei Wan, rental is comparatively lower, so are dishes.
We order daily soup, spareribs in Zhenjiang sauce, soy sauce chicken and vegetable. The portion is really sufficient and generous. But it is not a restaurant for group dining as the restaurant is really too small, no round table is available. Frankly speaking, all dishes are cooked with skill and conscience. This is the prerequisite for us to visit again, Congee Kitchen can do so. Though no dishes tonight are of impeccable and outstanding level, we would like to try other dishes later.
