Steamed rice is for sure the signature item of Sun Ming Fat. Steamed Chicken Rice is priced at $19, this should not be a very reasonable price in view of the competitive and promotion price of $5 in a Chinese restaurant nearby. A premium price should be paid for premium food quality. This steamed chicken rice is of quite good quality, chicken is of course not fresh but chilled.
Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling is in good shape and has not been over-steamed. It can be regarded as an above average item, but not outstanding. It is suggested to eat with chili sauce.
Steamed Sparerib Rice is of good taste. The portion is reasonable and also not generous. No meat tenderizer has been added. This is appreciated. Steamed rice is served for the whole day. If steamed rice is temporarily out of stock, a waiting time of about ten minutes is needed.
There is no need to add too much soy sauce. Overall taste is already very good and not salty.
At the bottom of the bowl, each piece of rice is still in very good shape and condition. No surplus water is used during the steaming process, rice flavour has not been diluted. This is the pivotal reason for being the signature item in Sun Ming Fat. It is not an ordinary eatery, in view of steamed rice.

We sometimes would like to dine in Tai Po, mainly because there are quite a lot of local eateries serving food at high quality and reasonable price. We are informed to try steamed rice in Tai Po Market. Though steamed rice is not a rare or special item in Hong Kong, it is needed to have a try if time allows.
We order two steamed rice, they are in fact the only flavors available. If not, we have to wait for ten minutes for the next round. There is no disappointment and those two flavors of the steamed rice are both of good quality, particularly each piece of rice is in good shape and condition, and has not been overcooked or undercooked. This must be attributed to the control of steaming time and the amount of water used. It is higher in quality than most other cha chaan teng serving the same items. You are suggested to pay a visit if the chance arises.
