Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important Chinese Festivals in Hong Kong. The others are Chinese New Year (農曆新年) and Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節).

Tai O's Traditional Dragon Boat Water Parade (大澳端午龍舟遊涌) takes place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month (it is normally in June). With more than one hundred years history, it was graded as one of China Intangible Cultural Heritages in 2011. There is only one dragon boat water parade in Hong Kong, it is therefore unique in Tai O.

Dragon Boat Festival celebration has a long history in Tai O. Besides to commemorate the death of the poet and minister Qu Yuan, it is now a festive activity in Hong Kong and of course in Tai O.
