The Kowloon City Baptist Church was founded in 1931. The chapel was officially established as a church on August 27 1939. Through the sacrificial giving of church members, the first church building materialized in 1940.
The building in Argyle Street was constructed in 1964, it is fifty one years old in 2015.
Originally, it was a construction of six storeys. It was expanded by adding four more storeys in 1973. Now totally there are ten storeys.
The church is planning to move to a new address in Tung Lei Road (東利道) in Kowloon City. It will become the most expensive and the largest church in Hong Kong, with seating of more than 4,000 persons.
