This is the bridge to another side of Tai O on Lantau Island. In the past, there was no bridge. Tai O people had to use cable ferry (橫水道) to cross the water channel between Tai O Island and Lantau Island.
A cable ferry (also called chain ferry, swing ferry, floating bridge, or punt, 橫水道) is a ferry that is guided (and in many cases propelled) across a river or large body of water by cables connected to both shores. Early cable ferries often used either rope or steel chains, with the latter resulting in the alternate name of chain ferry. Source: Wikipedia

Tai O Market Street is the shortest street, but it is the busiest one. Tai O Market Street is in the form of 'L' shape, and form a 'T' shape with Kat Hing Back Street.
Since it is the main street in Tai O, many shops can be found on this street.
