Hong Kong Tramway (電車) is one of the earliest forms of public transport in Hong Kong. It runs on Hong Kong Island from Kennedy Town on the west to Shau Kei Wan on the east, with a branch circulating Happy Valley.


Most trams are now covered with overall advertising livery.



It began operation in 1904. It has over 100 years history in Hong Kong.
At the time of taking this photo, the fare for adult was still $2.00.


It is also a tourist attraction.


It is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of travelling on Hong Kong Island.


It is the only exclusively double-decker operated tram system in the world.


It has 120 tram stops in Hong Kong. On average, there are daily passengers of 200,000.


It is of course operated by electricity.


For the whole journey from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan, it takes 80 minutes.

Service hours is from 05:30 to 24:30.


Fare is $2.3 for adult and $1.2 for child under 12.


The maximum capacity of each tramcar is 115 people.


Most trams have a maximum speed of 50 km/h.


Monthly tickets are also available at the cost of HK$170.
