Old pier
Old Ma Wan Village, near the old pier, has been vacated. This was formerly the busiest street on the whole island. We do not know what the direction and decision of the government on the developement of Old Ma Wan Village, for the sake of retrospection, it is needed to visit at your earliest convenience, before it will be demolished suddenly.
Though there were several streets in the old town area, basic necessities could still be bought here.
Most old constructions are of two to three storeys.
Most buidlings are now not blocked and fenced by wire mesh.
A restaurant is still kept in good condition externally. We do not notice there is any person inside.
From here (Ma Wan Back Street), it led to former Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach.
We come across not more than ten inhabitants in our visit to old Ma Wan Village.
The old houses above water.
This is Kap Shui Mun Bridge,
At the front, it was the area to sun-dry preserved shrimp paste. It is
in fact the area before a white building on the left in the photo below.
Some visitors can be found elsewhere, mainly for retrospection and phototaking.
In the middle, it is Park Island Apartment Complex, completed in 2006.
