So Kwun Wat Tsuen (掃管笏村) is accessible by minibus No.43 to Ho Pong Street Minibus Terminal (河傍街小巴總站), Tuen Mun. http://www.i-busnet.com/minibus/nt/r43.php
So Kwun Wat Tsuen is a large village, it is composed of three villages, namely Lee, Chan and Ching http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1298. It should have a history of more than 300 years. In which, the largest clan is Chan.
Walking along So Kwun Wat Tsuen Road (掃管笏村道), it is the Lee Uk Tsuen (李屋村).
The constructions on both sides of the road are mainly three-storeyed, they should be newly built within a couple of decades.
This is the Lee's Ancentral Hall. http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1295
The construction on bottom right is a creek, in which clean water and a lot of fish can be found.
The old building of two storeys on the right was built in 1956, it is 59 years old in 2015.
Old and new constructions are erected together.
So Kwun Wat Lee Uk Tsuen Village Office (掃管笏李屋村村公所) http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1300
Besides the Lee Uk Tsuen, it should be the Chan Uk Tsuen (陳屋村).
Tin Hau Temple http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1296
Fuk Cheong Store (福昌士多) is the only store in So Kwun Wat Tsuen. http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1301
The minibus terminus is not far away from Tin Hau Temple.
This is the minibus terminus, taken from another angle. Some people are waiting for the minibus and sitting under the tree.
Chan's Ancestral Hall (桂馥堂陳氏宗祠) http://isletforum.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=58&do=blog&id=1297
Adjacent to the Chan's Ancestral Hall, there are two rows of old houses. This means they should be of two-storeyed, instead of three-storeyed.
They should be built before 1960.
Regular renovations should have been done. I always want to thank the owners of these houses for keeping their houses up till and beyond 2015, no matter what the reasons for keeping the houses are.
It seems that the vacancy rate of houses in Chan Uk Tsuen is lower, comparatively.
In the journey of visiting different villages in Hong Kong, we found that the people in So Kwun Wat Tsuen are particularly nice and helpful. I really hope that they can live here peacefully and continuously. It is easily accessible by public transport. If you have chance, you should also arrange So Kwun Wat Tsuen as a part of your itinerary.
