Tai O Heritage Hotel was formerly known as Tai O Police Station. It was built in 1902 on a hill next to the ferry pier at Shek Tsai Po Street, Tai O, Lantau Island. Dormitories were added from 1961 to 1962. In 1996, it was changed to Tai O Police Post. In the same year it was closed in December. It was later converted into a hotel and opened on February 27, 2012.
Tai O Heritage Hotel operates on a social enterprise model, with half of its more than 30 employees being residents of Tai O or Lantau Island.
