Georgian Horn Cup, Georgian Khatris
Under normal circumstances, everyone uses glass wine glasses to drink, but on some important occasions, we may use some special drinking utensils. Georgians use horn cups "Khantis".
Khantis (horn cup), of course, is a horn-shaped wine cup, but what we use now are horn-shaped cups made of Georgian clay, or clay cups. Beginning in the Middle Ages, the Balkan region of Europe was the most common area for drinking from horn cups.
This clay horn cup, in addition to its unique appearance, also has unique functions. Because of the soil relationship of the clay, the minerals in it will change the quality of the wine. You can use the glass to hold red wine, taste the taste of the wine, and then pour the wine into the horn. If you drink it in a horn cup, you will find that the taste of the wine has improved. Even if you put water into the horn cup, it will have the effect of enhancing the taste of the water. Therefore, Georgian wine served in clay bottles will be more expensive.
When drinking with a horn cup, the tip of the cup should be outward, that is, the tip of the cup should not be bent towards you.
